2011 American Music Awards Review #AMAs

I decided to do a review of the 2011 American Music Awards...well the stuff I actually cared about that happened. Included are some of the performances as well...check out TammyTalks 2011 American Music Awards after the jump. Enjoy...

Congrats to Nicki Minaj for opening up the AMAs thats a big deal, but I wasnt a fan of her performance....mainly because I didnt know the song, but I just expect more from her when performing. The speakers on her ass and breasts was a dope idea though....so I kinda expected her to perform SuperBass and get crazy with it. Check out the performance below.

Justin Beiber performed his Christmas song Mistletoe. I actually the love the song...but hated his astronaut outfit..just wear a normal outfit when you perform. The set was cute with the red/green/white lights which were supposed to be candlesticks?

Nicki Minaj beat out Kanye West and Lil Wayne for best rap artist....which yep I agree with. She had a bigger year last year than they did. If you dont agree with me, leave a comment below and tell me why.

Chris Brown performed a song medley, which I love this voice, but I rather watch him dance. He performed that song flawlessly though, he sounded great. I would love to see him live. Lol...he did a small dance break at the end which gave me life with the MJ tribute, and the effects were sick as well. Check it out below.

Rihanna won Best R&B Soul album beating out Chris Brown and Beyonce. Ummmmmmm I dont know what I missed but wow. Now, Im not the biggest fan of 4, but F.A.M.E was crazy. Im speechless cant believe Rihanna won. But I guess.....

JLo perfomed...not much to say about this really. I enjoyed her performance...I did feel like I was watching a commercial though, wonder how much she got for that fiat promo. LoL I didnt know she had a new song out but Ive always enjoyed watching JLo perform.. BTW She looks great for her age.

Favorite Rap/Hip Hop album went to Nicki Minaj for Pink Friday. Yep, she beat out Jay Z/Kanye West Watch The Throne and Lil Wayne Carter IV....LoL. Im not a huge fan of WTT but Im kinda shocked she beat out Carter IV though.

Mary J Blige started off her performance by singing "Mr Wrong" from her upcoming album My Life II. I have loved this song since I first heard it....I cant wait to get her album on Tuesday. She put on a classic MJB performance. Check it out below.

Best Soul/R&B Female went to Beyonce beating out Kelly Rowland and Rihanna....is anyone shocked?! Lets just move on shall we...

Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera performed "Moves Like Jagger" which is one of my favorite songs at the moment.I have ALWAYS loved Maroon 5...how could you not?! Christina has such a soulful voice...been a fan of hers since she first came on the scene. Is she preggo? She did look a little thick. Hmmmmm Adam Levine then walked over to the other side of the stage and performed with Gym Class Heroes Check out their performance below.

Drake performed "Headlines", the song sounds dope with a live band but Drake has NO stage presence...I dont get it cuz he is an actor. His all black hoodie and jeans look awful, and why does he keep wearing those football gloves?!

Adele beat out Rihanna and Lady Gaga for best Pop/Rock...ummmm I wouldnt classify her as pop/rock...I dont know how I feel about these nominee choices...

Artist of the year nominees include Adele, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, and Lil Wayne...and the winner was Taylor Swift...ummm excuse me AMA committee but Adele has sold over 10 millions copies of 21...ya know what?! No comment!!!

LFMAO close out the awards but yeah....not a huge fan of them. And I think its kinda bogus that they didnt tell viewers to have 3D glasses. Lol. The people there had them. Justin Beiber pants were not okay, and why was he doing the running man so hard.

Random Notes: The best part of the awards were the clips going into commercial from the previous awards shows. I think the past acceptance speeches were the greatest. LMAO I remember a lot of those. Does that make me old?

Jaden Smith was constantly off beat every time they showed him...they showed him during every r&b and hip hop performance...how do you clap off beat?! Sigh...

Why are John Legend's suits always so small?

Where were all the big name stars?! No Usher, Beyonce, Keri Hilson, Rihanna, Kanye West, J Cole, Weezy, Kelly Rowland, etc....guess the AMAs dont really matter huh?

All in all I wasnt that entertained with the awards. #shrugs. Next up are the Soul Train awards.

The end of the Breakfast Club is near

The Breakfast Club has been on air for 9 years this month, and is going strong with ratings, engagement, and seems to be adding new markets every month...but I think the end is near.
I sound crazy right? I know you're thinking, Tammy how and why would you think that a successful morning show would have it's future in the balance? Well, there are a couple of reasons, let's go through them. I mean this could all be in my head and I’m projecting, or I could have some legitimate points and the near future will tell.
Shock jock radio value going down- The Breakfast Club has been known for it's shock jock style of radio for years. Charlemagne says the most outlandish things in interviews, creates false narratives that he doesn't even agree with for hot takes, and Envy always goes against the grain and disagrees with the masses on any given topic, just to disagree. Podcasting is huge right now, put five people in a room and at least three of them have a podcast; just at the…

15 Black women that need to host SNL

Saturday Night Live has been around for 45 years this fall and has had a series of hosts, of all ethnicities, ages, and entertainment occupations. They've had hosts that are comedians, actors, singers, rappers, and more. Now, while the diversity has been decent...I would love to see more black women as hosts. I've compiled a list of black women I think would do a damn good job at hosting the late night show. Let's get started shall we...
Tracee Ellis Ross - Tracee is a no brainer and should be at the top of everyone's list when thinking of who should host when they are doing the planning over at NBC. Tracee has perfect comedic timing, which we've seen time and time again on Girlfriends, and now on Black-ish we’ve seen her transform into Rainbow Johnson, and also into the other smaller roles they play when they have episodes within their episodes, if that makes sense. Her personality is playful and fun, which is evident through her Instagram. So, she’s topping this l…

Grown-ish is a far cry from A Different World

When it was announced that Black-ish, the hit ABC sitcom about an affluent African American family doing their best to immerse their kids in the their ethnic culture while still enjoying the fruits of their labor, would be getting a spinoff following the oldest daughter, Zoe Johnson, as she headed to college people were somewhat excited. When it was pegged to be an updated and more current version of the hit series A Different World people were more than excited and the show was highly anticipated. We were expecting to see Zoe navigate life as a college freshmen, out of the sheltered and, low key white bread, lifestyle. We were anticipating seeing her explore more of her life after highschool, then it aired…

Now, don’t get me wrong, I like Grown-ish, I think it’s entertaining, but it’s a far cry from A Different World. I didn’t expect the show that be identical to A Different World, mainly since Zoe wasn’t attending an HBCU, so there’s that, but I think the show is missing the mark on …
